But first, I want you to say…”I… love… crepes.”

It’s been a cool (high of only 65 in July?), overcast morning and looking like it’ll rain at any moment most of the day so far. Yesterday, I picked blueberries so I suggested we have fresh blueberry crepes for brunch this morning and that’s exactly what we did. Ryan whipped up a batch of delicious crepes, using this recipe, with a blueberry filling. Speaking of crepes, this never fails to make me laugh.

I do enjoy lazy Sundays. With the cloudy, cool weather it feels extra nice to sit around the house and do a whole lot of nothing much at all. Melody seems like she’s got being lazy down to a science. I did step out to our backyard and pick some of the largest tomatoes we’ve ever grown in our garden as well as some jalapenos, bell pepper, and I cut some nasturtium to make this sweet little arrangement. Here’s to lazy Sundays!

Bloooberry

I enjoyed a beautiful Saturday morning at Dexter Blueberry Farm with friends. July is blueberry time in Michigan; they are delicious and available at local farmer’s markets and farms all over the area. A couple weeks ago, we made a blueberry tart with this recipe and it turned out pretty great, especially considering we’d never made a tart before.

Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack

We had fun attending two baseball games last weekend – we saw the Tigers vs. Rangers at Comerica Park and then the Cubs vs. Cardinals at Wrigley Field. I really enjoyed the fireworks on Friday night at Comerica and singing Take Me Out to the Ball Game in the 7th inning stretch and watching the manual scoreboard change at Wrigley.

Pizza and hot dogs

That’s mostly what we ate on our trip to Chicago, pizza and hot dogs; I know, it’s not original, but we enjoyed every bit of it! We enjoyed a short trip to Chicago with family this week and the highlights of the trip for me were the Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity show at the Art Institute and visiting the Skydeck at sunset (the view was amazing, of course, and what better time of day to enjoy it). The jellfish at the Shedd Aquarium made for some interesting photos…

Fabulous 4th

We enjoyed a fabulous 4th of July this year; complete with a bike ride, a swim in the lake, & a picnic with friends at Island Lake. We ended the evening with sparklers & enjoyed watching fireworks that others set off from afar.

How does our garden grow?

It’s coming along nicely! Yesterday, I pulled all the lettuce & cut back all the herbs. Today, I was delighted to be able to pick quite a few beans. When I was a little girl, my parents had a garden in their backyard & they grew beans; my Mom said she could never take any in the house because I always picked them & ate them before they could make it inside.

Our next garden project is to tackle our neglected tomato plants & pull some kale; we got busy & never took the time to properly support the tomato plants & I see quite a few baby tomatoes forming on the vines.

Also, my kitchen smells amazing as I have a big bunch of basil in a glass vase & I just love the smell of basil!
