That’s mostly what we ate on our trip to Chicago, pizza and hot dogs; I know, it’s not original, but we enjoyed every bit of it! We enjoyed a short trip to Chicago with family this week and the highlights of the trip for me were the Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity show at the Art Institute and visiting the Skydeck at sunset (the view was amazing, of course, and what better time of day to enjoy it). The jellfish at the Shedd Aquarium made for some interesting photos…
We had the pleasure of traveling back home to Texas in June to visit family and for Abby’s Bat Mitvah. It was really wonderful to visit with family and enjoy all the festivities. And Tina did an amazing job with the desserts and display for the reception! Thank you to Abby, Debbie, and Steve for letting us be a part of Abby’s Bat Mitvah; we love you all and are thrilled to see Abby growing into the beautiful, young woman that she has become.
We were able to get back home to Texas to visit family last week, which was wonderful! We stopped at some delicious restaurants and fun attractions along our way (Chuy’s, Rudy’s BBQ, Dr. Pepper Museum, etc.) and we had some fun with taking these photos…
Thank you, to my Mom & my wonderful husband’s Mom, for loving us so much! Thank you for cleaning our scrapes and doctoring our bruises, for teaching us to say please & thank you, for helping us to learn the many lessons we needed to learn in life (even the hard ones), for all the hugs & kisses, for pointing us in the right direction for Pin the Tail on the Donkey at parties, and for so much more.
Happy birthday, to you, Dad!
You can fix just about anything, you play a mean guitar, and from the looks of this picture you would’ve killed it on the runway too.
The picture above is of my father-in-law & mother-in-law. Ain’t love grand? For me, the answer is a definite & very loud, “Yes!” Happy Valentine’s Day!

- “I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.” – Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets
We drove to Texas for Christmas with a car full of presents, our adorable dog, & delicious treats from Michigan (Zzang! bars, fresh MI apple cider, Trader Joe’s Joe Joe’s, etc.) & spent a wonderful holiday with our family. We enjoyed celebrating my brother’s 30th birthday on Christmas Eve (Ryan made a Banana Split Cake from scratch, yum!) & visiting with our family in Gatesville & Abilene. It was so nice to be home for Christmas!
