To my delight, our house came with two beautiful lilac bushes in the backyard – 1 white & 1 pale purple – which I’d never seen bloom until this spring as they’d already bloomed & gone before we moved in last June. I just cut some & put them in a vase in our home & they smell lovely!
We enjoyed a relaxing Easter – brunch with friends (which Ryan made a delicious, vegetarian frittata for), a made-with-love-by-Ryan Easter latte (he said the foam bunny on top wasn’t too good & you had to use your imagination, but I saw it & appreciated it), & some Easter candy to enjoy. I hope the Easter bunny brought you some treats & that you enjoyed the beautiful day!
It hasn’t been warm enough for our Forsythia in the yard to actually bloom yet so I treated myself to some locally-grown stems for the house; nice to have it look like spring is in full-bloom inside at least. I have been excited to see things changing outside too…slowly it feels, but changing to spring nonetheless. Our lilac bushes, among others, are forming sweet little buds which I can’t wait to see bloom!
It’s still snowing out…it is only early March, after all, so that’s not surprising. As it is now officially March, although it isn’t officially spring, we have reached the time on the calendar that we can call a spring month. I particularly love bringing spring flowers into our home this time of year when it still looks nothing like spring outside – take that, winter! For your viewing enjoyment, take a look at these lovely, pale pink tulips, Iron Cross Oxalis, & Easter candy (I can’t resist M&Ms in pastel colors & those little Cadbury mini eggs).
Happy Easter! My dear friends, Steff, Ken, & Averie gave me this beautiful Easter Lily & it was in full-bloom in time for Easter.
Also, a couple weeks ago we started some plants from seed in our window & have quite a few that have sprouted little seedlings up from the dirt; we’re excited to watch them start to grow, in anticipation of our summer garden soon to come! We’ve planted several different tomato varieties, jalapeno, anaheim peppers, parsley, basil, lettuce, nasturtium, & marigolds from seed & are hoping that they all grow so we can plant them in our garden in May.
Also, on our patio garden outside, we already have lilies coming up & our 2 strawberry pots have lots of green leaves & even a bloom; we’ve had such a mild winter & record highs this last month or so, which the plants are loving.
I even got some treats from the Easter Bunny (a.k.a. my darling husband) myself!
Oh, and Melody says, “Happy Easter!” One of her favorite things to do this time of year is lounge by the patio door, taking in the fresh air coming in through the screen door & napping in the warm sun.
Spring bulbs make me happy! Here are some daffodils & tulips to make you smile…
We attended another wonderful HSHV Walk & Wag event last Saturday. I was happy to be able to raise $200 for the HSHV through this event & we all, including Melody of course, had a great time! The weather was beautiful, the sun was shining, & the rain held off for us during the day. They always do such a great job putting this event together & it’s so much to see all the dogs & dog owners enjoying themselves on a sunny day in the park. You can check out more of my photos from the event here.
