Deck the halls

I like to decorate the house for the Christmas & Hanukkah holidays the Friday after Thanksgiving as I like to enjoy the lights & the decorations for as long as possible – so yesterday that’s exactly what we did; the menorah, tree, wreath, lights, & other decorations are out & my Santa cookie jar has fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in it! There are even two presents already wrapped & sitting under the tree – I really do love Christmas.

We picked up this lovely boxwood wreath from the Ann Arbor Farmer’s Market on Wednesday & I thought it was a nice alternative to a traditional evergreen wreath. I think it makes the house feel extra warm & cheery & I love to come home to that!

Picture perfect

We had a lovely weekend & were super excited to use our brand new, fancy pants, Canon 5D MarkII camera! We enjoyed a lovely dinner out with friends on Friday at Melange (&, bonus, it was Restaurant Week in Ann Arbor), took a trip out to Eastern Market in Detroit on Saturday & then watched the World Cup U.S. vs. Ghana game & ended the day with a nice cookout with friends.

Here are several more photos we took over the weekend with our fancy new camera – it’s so awesome!

I love fruit, just about any type, but I have to say that my favorite fruit is definitely the strawberry! I can’t get enough of strawberries. They’re so cute, red, sweet & tart at the same time, & they just make me happy. And, as it turns out, I live in Michigan where we have an amazing crop of fresh, locally grown strawberries (including the ones we grow in pots on our front patio) every summer. There were lots of strawberries available at the Ann Arbor Farmer’s Market last Saturday & I know we’ll be lucky enough to have them around & readily available for a while still.

I’m hoping to make a trip out to Spicer Orchards soon to pick my own basket of them to enjoy, before strawberry season is over. Yum!

RC Cola + Herbs = love

Ryan & I picked up an old, wooden RC Cola crate when we were in El Paso, TX last December & I thought it would make a great planter. So, we went herb shopping at the farmer’s market today & put it together & I think it has to be just about the cutest herb planter ever! We planted rosemary, thyme, basil, thai basil, oregano, & mint.

Farmers Market, Summer Bounty

I love to visit the Ann Arbor Farmers Market (& Farmers Markets in general)! Buying fresh, organic, & locally grown produce & goods makes me feel good & it’s beautiful to wander around the stalls & take in all the colors, smells, sights, & sounds. Today, we picked up 3 bunches of sunflowers, sweet cherries, raspberries, red oak lettuce, sunflower shoots, sugar snap peas, green beans, cucumbers, broccoli, cilantro, basil, & a turquoise necklace.
